These are studies I did back in school, they are so essential in your development as an artist.  I started copying from Bargue drawings with linear studies then to more advanced rendering with graphite pencil and charcoal.  Then I moved onto rendering with charcoal and copying from casts, this prepares you how to handle the subtle shifts of value when learning how to paint with oils.  Then I start painting with oils starting from just a grisaille and moving onto casts as well and applying subtle hints of color.
